Radar Specialists NXP invests in Chinese radar specialist Hawkeye
The semiconductor manufacturer NXP invests in the Chinese company Hawkeye Technology. These two suppliers intend to team up to develop radar sensors for the Chinese automotive market.
NXP Semiconductors announces a cooperation and investment agreement with Hawkeye Technology. Specialized in radar sensors, Hawkeye provides a team of engineers and a laboratory complex within Southeast University in Nanjing in addition to its knowledge, according to NXP. The companies have announced that they will cooperate in the development of reference designs of radar systems for the Chinese automotive market. Financial details of the agreement will not be disclosed.
Joint Research Centre
"Southeast University and Hawkeye have established a joint research center focused on vehicle millimeter-wave radar technologies," says Professor Hong Wei, director of Southeast University's State Key Laboratory of Millimeter Waves. "At the same time, we have begun long-term research into millimeter wave multi-system radar imaging, new millimeter-wave antenna arrays, and new millimeter-wave circuit structures. The results are to be incorporated into future radar products from Hawkeye.
