2020 brought about fundamental changes and challenges to the mobility sector as a result of COVID-19. We saw some verticals triumph while others struggled. We consider the most and least successful initiatives and companies of 2020 and predict what’s to come in 2021.

Few could have predicted the impact of COVID-19 a year ago as earlier this year, businesses and schools closed, the streets became ghost towns, and transport emptied. Borders closed and many airlines suspended international flights. Some forms of transport gained in popularity while others declined and some businesses closed their doors forever. All in all, we saw a sector of businesses who took advantage of sanitation and contactless tech and bucketfuls of agility from OEMs building ventilators and respirators to rideshare drivers delivering groceries and micromobility providers providing free transport to healthcare workers.
