The semiconductor manufacturer Elmos sells the company SMI to a subsidiary of TE Connectivity. The transaction is expected to be completed before the end of this year.
Elmos Semiconductor sells its subsidiary Silicon Microstructures Inc. (SMI) from California to the TE daughter company Measurement Specialties in Pennsylvania. The semiconductor manufacturer signed the contract to sell the company on Friday (September 20). According to the company, the transaction could be completed before the end of this year. SMI manufactures pressure sensors for transmission and HVAC applications. Elmos acquired the company in 2001. SMI is currently included in the micromechanics segment of the Elmos group, which will cease to exist after the completion of the transaction. Elmos intends to focus on the automotive sector.
